The Widows Sons (WS) is an International Association which is open to all Freemasons who enjoy motorcycling and have a desire to ride with and associate with their fraternal brothers. While we wear identifying regalia, or patches, the Widows Sons is not a biker
gang, MC or 1% Club. We are required to always represent the fraternity in a positive light. The Widows Sons serve to raise money for charitable causes, raise Masonic awareness while attending public motorcycling events and support our regular Lodges in whatever capacity we are able. Widows Sons chapters have helped to increase Masonic membership through our presence and visibility during public motorcycle events and rallies.
Granted our Charter on 31st March 2021, we are attached as a Region to the Widows Sons National Chapter, and also have very close ties to the original West Midlands Chapter. Who have since divided into Staffordshire, Shropshire & Warwickshire, from whom the founder Members of Worcestershire originated.
During the riding season we will aim to organise Chapter ride-outs during most summer months or suggest joining in other Chapters events. There is also a program of other non-masonic ride-outs that we, as a Chapter will attend and encourage participation in National events (eg the Ride to the Wall) or regional events such as the Ride4life.
Things may be slower during the winter months; however get togethers and social gatherings (where permitted) will take place all year round, and the Widows Sons will try to make these events family affairs so that all members of the family can participate wherever possible.
Members are expected to attend rides and events whenever they can and particularly the AGM and General Purposes meetings where the running of the association is discussed.
This is a basic outline of what we hope to achieve. The Widows Sons is not tied to a specific motorcycle or manufacturer and we endeavour to be fully inclusive, making people aware that Freemasons ride all sorts of bikes, not just wear dark suits carrying cases, and raise much needed funds for charity. Indeed, the membership fees in particular are made available for supporting the selected charities.
So you would like to be a fully patched Widows Son? Well for that you do need to be a Master Mason. But good news, if you are a Mason below the rank of a Master Mason, we have the Pear Drops Association, which also for non Masons too.
Pear Drops Association - is our support association, which is open to Masons below the rank of Master, but also to non Freemasons. The Pear Drops Association whilst also for Masons, provides an ideal form of membership for those bikers or family and friends, who want to come and enjoy our company and our ride outs, without the commitment of joining Freemasonry.
If you cannot or do not intend to come on our rides or attend events, then this is probably not for you. We do welcome interest from like minded people or those who are looking for a safe and friendly well organised group to ride with.
The chances are you will enjoy yourself, make good life long friends and take part in doing good for the community. Such as the recent donation of a brand new Blood Bike to a very worth cause.
